How to Deal with Stealers, Hackers, etc.

Hackers are one of the worse things that can ever happen to your site. Hackers somehow get the password to your site. One way to prevent this is to be careful who you give the password to. Or, better yet, don't give anyone the password at all. Hackers could delete EVERYTHING on your site. They could change the password so you can never get in again. If they change the password, then contact your hosting company. Tell them what is happening and that you do not know what the password is anymore. The may change it for you and then tell you what it is. Your passwords should be easy to remember yet something that would very hard for an unknown person to figure out. Never make your password your site name or the word 'password'. Those two things are the first things hackers try. If you use freewebs, everyone already knows your username. That is how it is on neopets. Don't worry they can't get very far like that. Never post your password in any posts on your website, or any page on your website. If someone leaves a message when the hack like someone did here:The Neo River! , that might help you track done the hacker easier. Good luck!

Stealers are awful people who will take your graphics and use them on their own website, telling everyone THEY made them. I know it IS mean, but it happens. A lot of people will also use a glitter maker or a doll maker and say they hand-drew it or made it them self. Makers are very risky but they can be helpful. Some makers, especially doll makers, can have their props stolen and put into someone else's doll maker. Stealers may also take one of your images and change it up a bit. You need to be on the look-out for that because they could claim it as their own a lot easier than stealing one of your graphics with out changing or altering anything, except maybe the credit. You should keep on the look-out for stealers. Some sites that commited theft are here: You may want to look at some of the sites and see why and what they stole. Every now and then, I advise you to go to some sites and make sure you don't have anyone stealing your graphics. Make sure you don't steal either! You don't want your site to be exposed and deleted. If someone is using your makers, make sure they credited you on their Credits page. If they haven't e-mail them and let them know nicely that they should add your link on the credits page. Tell them that you won't expose their site if they fix the problem and credit you. I hope your site never has any theft problems!

Impersonaters are people who pretend to be one of your staff members or even you! These people might post in the chat box or Forum on your site with your name saying things like: "All staff is fired! I hate you all!" or "This site stinks. I'm closing it down now!" If something like that happens, tell your staff they aren't fired in an update and tell them your site isn't closing now. Impersonaters aren't very hard to take care off. If possible, find out the IP addressof the person and ban them from your or put them on your wall of shame to discourage their behavior. This helps a great deal, even if you don't realize it. Never let impersonaters get to you. Don't give them satisfaction!

Some people, or strangers as some call them, like to post rude things on websites. They may say things like "You glitter words are awful!" or "Your site stole!" even when you know you didn't steal. These are not good people to have around and it's pretty much useless to fight back or argue with them. Find out their IP address
and ban them from your site. Strangers also swear on your site or use cuss words. It doesn't attract many people or sites if your site is always full of bad language.
Try to monitor your forums and chat boxes. It's even better to not have either of those things, but it's not wrong either. Sometimes it is good to have a place for people to chat to find out what people think. If you something that someone wrote that is a cuss word, inappropriate or insulting, talk to your parents and tell them about it. They need to know. Try your best to eliminate the bad things or even better, eliminate the person. I don't mean kill them, I mean you should at least try to ban them. Send out a message to other sites letting them know what is going on. You should put this person on the Wall of Shame, but don't write what they wrote. You could get in serious trouble for publicly displaying this behavior. Just write something like: 'This person wrote rude things on the Chat Box and violated our rules' or something like that. If you say that exact phrase, I hope you have a rules page!
